Encryption at Its Best

When you upload a file to the hello.app platform, rest assured that our encryption process is top-notch and user-centric. Our encryption process varies depending on whether you are a web3 or web2 user.

Web3 Users
Web2 Users

For web3 users, files are encrypted using the uniquely derived signature of the private key of the web3 wallet provider.

In the case of web2 users, the wallet handling is securely carried out by us, ensuring that you don’t have to worry about the intricacies.

Client-Side Encryption:

All encryption processes occur on the client side. The unencrypted version of the file never leaves the user’s device, ensuring that your data is safeguarded from the moment of upload.

File Encryption Details

Every component of your file is sealed with robust encryption.

File metadata (name, mime, type...) is encrypted using the user’s private key, ensuring that only authorized eyes have access to it.

  • The binary part of the file is split into hundreds of segments.

  • Each segment is encrypted using the derived content-identifier hash of the file.

  • The hash and original binary stream never leaves the user’s PC, ensuring the utmost confidentiality.

Provider Knowledge:

As providers, our knowledge of your encrypted file is extremely limited. We only know the file’s size and its existence. Every other detail is securely encrypted, ensuring zero knowledge on our part.
