SIA

What is SIA?

Sia represents a decentralized storage network that is open source, utilizing blockchain technology to forge a secure and robust cloud storage system.

Hello collaborates directly with Sia, functioning as a node operator. This means that Hello oversees all storage agreements for its users. Any item uploaded to a Sia bucket through Hello is fragmented into numerous parts using Reed-Solomon erasure coding, which utilizes a 10 out of 30 scheme. The objects are divided into 30 segments, and these are then distributed to Sia host servers across the globe. To process a download request, only 10 out of the 30 fragments need to be accessible. Consequently, up to 20 pieces of the object can be lost, offline, or otherwise out of reach, resulting in inherent redundancy and a high level of availability.
